Custom Leather Pens

A few years ago, a friend mentioned it'd be cool if I created leather pens. Up for a challenge, I acquired high-quality leather and cut them to fit a variety of pens. My grandpa would be surprised to discover the ShopSmith he'd given me shortly before his passing turning leather pens now.  My maternal grandmother installed in me the love for quality leather, as her first job in the 1920's was in a West Texas saddle shop.

From wood turning pens to crafting leather ones, I've expanded. I use both chrome tanned and veg tanned leather.  The chrome tanned leather comes in a few colors: Tobacco, Chestnut, Coffee Brown and Dusty Carbon.  The chrome than leather has a sight texture.  The Veg tanned leather has a smooth finish and patinas nicely with use.
